My Ultimate Brow Product List

Welcome to my ultimate guide to brow products, where I dive headfirst into the transformative power of eyebrows in enhancing your features. Eyebrows are more than just hair; they are pivotal in framing the face, accentuating the eyes, and contributing to our overall facial symmetry. Over the decades, eyebrow shapes have evolved, reflecting broader beauty trends (the good, the bad and the ugly!), from the thin arches of the early 90s to the bold, natural, fluffy brows of today. It was Anastasia Beverly Hills that pioneered the brow revolution, introducing fabulous products and tools that brought brows into the spotlight. Following closely, Benefit Cosmetics further cemented the importance of brow grooming with their products that have been tailored for every brow shape and style.

In this blog, I’m exploring my UBPs… otherwise known as my Ultimate Brow Products… to bring you the very best of brows.

Brow Pencils

Eyebrow pencils will forever be my trusty sidekick for sculpting the ultimate brow game. This makeup marvel arrives sleek and slender, armed with a finely pointed tip designed for masterful precision. Brow pencils are great for tackling sparse spots, pump up the volume for lusher brows, and iron out any asymmetrical quirks. IMO, the best brow pencils are the ones with thin micro tips. Not too micro mind you as I find they tend to snap under the slightest pressure. These are my favourites tried and tested by me over the years.

Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil

12 Shades

Spoolie brush included? Yes

Does it need sharpening? No

Is this my favourite brow pencil? Yes, I think so. I’ve used it religiously since its launch in 2016. Why is it great? Well, the nib is super thin meaning you can create hairlike strokes with little effort. The formulation is pigmented and long wear and there’s a spoolie included on the end to brush through the brow. I’m so pleased the have extended their brow shades to include grey and red tones. For many years, those brow shades were ignored so it’s great to see the inclusivity.

Does it need sharpening? No

This is a great brow pencil if you’re looking for a buildable finish. The ultra-soft formula is enriched with an oil complex to help provide a smooth, even application. The tip is oval shaped which helps create a realistic brow look.

14 Shades

Spoolie brush included? No, but it has Fenty’s unique paddle brush for blending on the end.

Does it need sharpening? No

Sorry, but I’m going to start with my obsession with the mini paddle brush on the end of this pencil. Firstly it is SO CUTE! Secondly, it really helps to groom your brows in place (whilst keeping its cuteness). The pencil has an ultra-fine tip and it comes in a mega 14 shades! Rihanna and her team have always gone above and beyond to be inclusive and this product is no exception.

NYX is a brilliant, affordable brand and as with the other brow pencils, this has a thin tip that allows you to fill in any gaps. I would say that it dries out a little quicker but all in all it’s a great brow pencil at a great price.

IMO, VB’s light blonde shade of pencil is the best blonde-haired brow pencil out there. The shade is perfection. The pencil itself is a similar size to the other micro tips. The formula is beautifully buildable and leaves you with a soft, feathered brow that stays put.

Brow Gel

Gone are the days of having to use hairspray to freeze those brows in place, yes really. There is now a market filled with fantastic brow gel formulations. Here are my faves.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze Gel

Clear

I was thrilled when ABH put the potted version of this product into a tube. It is slightly less gel-like than the pot, but boy does it hold even the thickest brows in place without leaving a sticky residue.

Clear

Ok so, truth be told, I used to have the big bottle of the hair gel version of this in my kit until they brought out this version. It is such a great, affordable product that would probably keep your brows in place if you were stuck in the eye of a tornado.

10 Shades

This is a microfibre gel that mimics the appearance of real hair making them look thicker and fuller instantly. It is brilliant. Apply against the hair first and then back with the hair to coat from root to tip and make the most of the product.

7 Shades

Like gimme brow, this is also a fibre gel, however, I would say it’s a slightly subtler version which would work well if you like a soft, natural brow.

Clear

I really like the double sided brush on this gel. It allows you to sculpt and groom your brows with ease. The formula is a mix of wax and gel meaning you get am all day hold no matter how thick your brows are.

Brow Powder Sets

Powders are great if you like a soft definition. What I would say though is that most matte eyeshadows will do the trick if set in place with a gel. However, most brow powder palettes come in a duo of a powder and a wax so that you can custom blend the shades to create more dimension.

Chanel La Palette Brow Wax & Brow Powder Duo

Duo set x 3

This is a wax and powder duo that comes with multiple tools. A really great product for travelling and one that is perfect for someone who likes to take their time with their eyebrows.

Duo set x 4

This duo is actually a formula of waterproof brow putty’s rather than powders. This gives you a buildable brow without any fall out.

6 Shades

Thjs is a great budget friendly set. It contains two brow powders and two brow waxes meaning you can custom blend and set your brows until your hearts content.

Brow Pomades

The first pomades found their origin in the 19th century, when they were first used for hair styling and were generally made out of pug fat. Brows are obviously hair so it made complete sense for them to also be used on eyebrows too. Formulations have thankfully improved with time and now there are some fantastic pomades on the market.

Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade

11 Shades

This is the one that started it all. ABH Dip brow is an icon. Based on the pomades of the past, this baby glides effortlessly and gives you time to blend into place before it sets into a matte finish.

15 Shades

Do you fancy pink brows? Well, you’ve got it. KVD is all about individuality and creating any vibe you want with your products. This multi-use pomade does come in natural shades too and it stays put all day and night. A great product for those that love a dramatic brow.

Brow Tips

Always clean your brows before filling them in. I guarantee that some of your skincare or/and makeup will have got into them even if you can’t see it. Just use a cotton bud with a little makeup remover on it and go back and forth through the hair. Clean hair will mean your brow products will work the way they are supposed to and you won’t be left with any white residue.

Map Your Brows

If you’re unsure of where your brows should start, arch or end, map them. This will make sure you create the right brow shape for your face.

Start at the arch rather than at the front of the brow. You want to add as little weight as possible to the front to avoid yourbrows looking stuck on. If you’re unsure, just use a fibre gel at the front of the brow instead of a pencil or powder. Remember, the hairs tend to grow upwards at the front so follow that direction with your strokes, whatever products you use.

Tweezing

I always go and have my brows waxed professionally if I can. I mean the experts know best right? If you do need to tweeze a few pesky strays always pull the hair out in the direction it grows. Tweezing against it could snap the hair rather than pulling it from the root meaning that you will be left with an annoying black dot of hair or, even worse, an ingrown hair. Ps: In terms of tweezers, nothing beats a pair of Tweezerman’s.

Anastasia Soare once said: “I think an eyebrow can change the way you feel. It changes everything about your confidence” and I cannot agree more. When my own brows are on point, I feel unstoppable, so I really do practice what I preach.

They say that your eyes are the windows to your soul… so surely those windows deserve some great looking curtains!

Here’s to beaut brows!

Love,

Lisa
